Yehoshua Menachem (Shuki) Hefetz 1992-2012

Rise up, Rise up, for you have the strength to do so. because you  have wings of  the Spirit, wings of  powerful eagles . Do not deny them,  or  they  will deny  you. seek  them – and they will find you right away.” (Orot HaKodesh, Rabbi Kook

"MY NAME IS YEHOSHUA MY FRIENDS CALL ME SHUKI, YOU CAN CALL ME SHUKI TOO.”

Who Is Shuki?

Son of Leah and Yehiel, Yehoshua Menachem was born in Jerusalem on August 8, 1992. He was the second child in the family, a brother to  Amalia and Alma (Shira).  His younger sister Alma, always thought of him as an active and friendly boy, but very responsible.  From a young age, he was affectionately called – Shuki.

Shuki grew up and was educated in Jerusalem.  He attended Horev Elementary School in Katamon until sixth grade and continued to middle school at the Horev Yeshiva in Sanhedria. In the ninth grade, he wanted to strengthen and help build up the Jewish community in Hebron and moved to study at the Othniel Yeshiva, in the southern Hebron Mountains. After three years at the Yeshiva,  he enrolled at a high school in Gush Etzion in the Hila program, where he completed his twelfth grade.

On March 20, 2011, Shuki enlisted in the IDF, where he first served as a combat supporter in the Air Force.  In January 2012, he renewed his application to become a  combat soldier. He was then transferred to combat Engineering  Corp and  immediately began his training to join the Elite Unit  Yahalom (DIAMOND)

While fulfilling his training, Shuki fell in the line of duty on April 18, 2012. He was 19 years and 8 months at the time.
